Liquid Sloshing Control
in Road Tanker Trucks
Multiphase CFD simulation of liquid sloshing in partially filled road tankers under emergency braking. ANSYS Fluent with VOF model and a custom C-language UDF. Three baffle configurations compared — analysing peak pressure, free surface behaviour, and wall loading.
  • 5-baffle config reduced peak wall pressure by ~52% vs baseline
  • VOF free-surface confirmed wave-breaking by baffles
  • Mesh independence validated across 3 densities (<2% variation)
  • UDF applied sinusoidal 0.8g deceleration over 1.5s braking event
